Loviisa nuclear power plant, Finland

A significant milestone was the year 2001, when we, as a subcontractor, manufactured the first fuel assembly components – top and bottle nozzles and shrouds. Loviisa NPP was the final recipient of the finished nuclear fuel. In total, we delivered more than 700 sets of these important components over the following years.

In 2020, we delivered a new modernized EZ 650 PRO tightening unit and an type  MKM-3/M device for the control rod drive torque measurement to the Finnish customer.

The EZ 650 PRO electrically powered tightening unit is a complete compact solution that allows tightening/loosening of flange joints on the upper block of the VVER-440 reactor sealed with graphite gaskets using a single device that serves both types of joints, while tightening to a specified torque is possible. These are the flange joints of the drive/drive housing interface, and the position indicator sensor/drive interface. The device, which was completely developed by our designers,  allows performing these operations on the upper unit of the reactor planned outage and in the upper unit maintenance station. The control and the parameter setting take place via the touch screen together with the USB interface enabling importing or exporting the sets of working parameters of the tightening unit and exporting the measured values of tightening torques.

Since 2010, we have also been providing the Loviisa NPP with regular supplies of intermediate rods for control rod drives.  The number of intermediate rods delivered is approaching one hundred.

The company ŠKODA JS also supplies this customer with a wide variety of spare parts for the reactor control drives, such as coolers, labyrinth shells, special control valves, bearings, toroidal tubes, pole extensions and others.
